Using ID kit on greens???
I have been doing several runs through Tombs UW recently and on 2 consecutive runs I received Illyana's Mirror on both runs (bah that sucked). My question is that I used an ID kit on one just for the heck of it and it said its gold value was 36 gold. I was curious so I identified the other and it stated a value of 60 gold. I know it is probably some useless A-Net function that they use and, it really doesn't matter to me. I was just curious if anybody had any idea why they have different values when they are the exact same item? Thanks

Value is random, typically ranging anywhere from 1 to around 300 or so

Yeah, I figured it was some kind of randomness. Didn't think it was anything special. Thanks for the input anyway.

Well why are greens worth less to a merchant than Golds?

I noticed something similar with IDS. During the Christmas update I farmed 5 IDS and the value was the same for 4 of them but one was slightly higher??? (cant remember the values). Anyway I sold the 4 and kept the other for myself.

Why would you want to merchant a green anyway?

Here's a trick: when you get an experience scroll as a drop, id it. Often the regular merchant will give you more than the scroll trader will when you do this

What would be better, IMO, then having to merchant them would be the ability to basic salvage them. Basic only so pefect mods couldn't be extracted, but greens could be made to give 1.5 or double the amount of crafting materials you would get from a similar purple/gold weapon. I know most people go into the new UW for greens - I go in for crafting supplies ^^ As for the scrolls, I never think to ID/merchant them. As soon as one drops for me I instantly activate it. It's benefits, IMO, are more beneficial than the money the merchant will you for them. |

The last time I did this, I used the id kit on a blue scroll and it became worth 150g, instead of the 100g the merchant would've taken instead. Of course, the golds are worth more and that usually results in a higher profit from the id. If you id a scroll and the merchant's buying price turns out to be lower than the scroll trader's buying price, then you can just sell to the trader at his quoted price anyway, so no harm |

All golds are valued at 35 gold. Identifying an item brings the value up by 1 gold. Additionally, item values exceed not only 300, but 400. I'm sure that'll go up as well. There ye go. Last edited by Sol_Vie; Feb 13, 2006 at 07:29 PM // 19:29.. |

Um sorry, but I have 2 Illyana's Mirrors and I ided both. One was then valued at 36 and the other was 60. So the theory of iding something only brings it up one gold everytime is wrong. Hence the mercahnts will pay just 35 gold for any green item that has not been ided. It may be some kind of a system only A-Net knows about and it may not be just random but, from a players perspective it is as random as random gets.
